E-Reader - Which is Your Favourite?
4 Best E-Readers
Reader Wi-Fi by Sony
Weighing in at 6 ounces, the Wi-Fi reader by Sony is definitely the most portable option, featuring a light-weight and small compact frame that fits in your hand. It has a 6 inch full touch screen which allows you to turn pages with your fingers just like you would do with a traditional book. The battery life is pretty good and will last one month with the WI-FI switched on. The Sony reader has some advanced features such as the ability to highlight sections and take free-hand notes just as you would whilst studying for an exam. Another thing you may want to consider is that the Reader is an open format device which means you can download from multiple e-book sources and read multiple file formats like .PDF or .Word or .MP3.
Amazon Kindle
One of the most popular eReaders available at the moment. Despite its popularity, be advised that the Kindle is closed format which means you can only download content from the Amazon store. The screen has no backlight, this can be a problem to some, but most see it as kinder to the eyes. Most experts believe that a backlight makes reading more tiresome on the eyes whilst others swear by it, and cannot read properly in public places without a backlit screen. The Kindle is a very simple, traditional device and it doesn't contain many advanced features such as the full touch screen that other devices boast, however, it does its job well and is the closest you will get to reading a real book.
Barnes and Noble's Nook
A close competitor to the Amazon Kindle, the Nook is an open format eReader. As one of Kindle's direct opponents it is in the same price range as its adversary. The Nook also comes with a few games, which is a nice touch. Similiarly to the Kindle it is a basic device, without a touch screen, but does have the option of a backlight. There are some open format Nooks that are cheaper than Kindles but the Kindle strikes me as being more user-friendly.
Apple iPad
The best of both worlds. For slightly more than its competitors you could invest in an Apple iPad and use it as an e-reader (among many other things). You can download the Kindle app, and other reader apps to your iPhone or iPad and enjoy the a huge choice of downloads available. These Apps allow you to download content from Amazon along with other opensource bookstores. You can also download content to your iPad from Apple's ibookstore. The iPad full touch screen completes what the Kindle lacks, the look and feel of a traditional book. In addition, you can also enjoy all the versatility the iPad tablet has to offer.
There are dozens more eReaders available, some very basic, some with more bells and whistles than is realistically needed. If your bottom line is budget, then the Kindle really is a great option. If you want a device that packs a punch and can be used for everything from an eReader to a PC then I would have to recommend the iPad. The best advice I can give is to shop around and do your research. Remember books are for life, so opt for something that will last the distance.
Chances are, you know someone who is looking for an eReader this Holiday season. Maybe you have decided you want to gift one to someone spe...
Top 3 Flavors.Me Pages That Intrigue
Flavors.Me is about simple, yet unique, personal pages. A place online that acts as a calling card for you and everything you do. At its core the site is an aggregator, pulling into one place all your content from all over the web, and it has been described to in complimentary terms by many web commentators. ReadWriteWeb said of Flavors.Me, "10 code-free minutes to a sexier web presence." While Lifehacker went with, "A simple and elegant personal portal."
The concept is basic, but there is something about Flavors.Me pages that gives them an edge, there is a certain coolness about them. If they were a high school kid they'd be the eccentric loner, the marginally anti-establishment, possibly dangerous, definitely attractive misfit admired by geeks and immune to the whims of malevolent jocks. These pages, when created with care and a little bit of creativity, are groovy. If you want to get a taste for what is possible here are three from the directory of users that nabbed my attention and demanded I investigate further.
Top 3 Flavors.Me Pages That Intrigue
Marcel Leal
http://flavors.me/mcel#_
Three kooky creatures, all with a different look of mischief, attempt to entice you in to Marcel's page, and in my case they were successful. Marcel is an illustrator of some considerable talent. A scan through his deviant art account will demonstrate this to you fairly conclusively. He's currently working freelance, and considering the standard of the work you'll find in his online portfolio (accessible through his Flavors.Me page); I imagine he's quite busy...
The Japan Lovers
http://www.thejapanlovers.com/
Ok, I'll admit that I was drawn in to the Japan Lovers page by the 3D effect and leather jackets. Nevertheless I was pleased I did, finding the page of a 'Rock and Love Duet' can never be a bad thing. The text on the page is pretty much impossible to read due to a semi-psychedelic colour clash, but I'm a forgiving sort and any band that list Hole as an influence is worth a bit of time. There's a music box on the site that gives you a few of their tracks and links to buy their merchandise. There is also plenty of the other sorts of things a modern band needs; MySpace, YouTube and Flickr, all of which are pretty hip.
Peter Warren
http://flavors.me/pbwarren#_
Whoa! This is freaky, and that's why I clicked on it. I can't resist. Sort of a gorilla with a dog shaped face, human eyes and wearing headphones... brilliant! The beast is sporting a definite enticing menace, certainly part of the charm. Peter is a screenwriter and playwright, having recently graduated from the Department of Dramatic Writing at NYU-Tisch. The gorilla-dog image it seems has limited relevance to the man himself, at least if it does, it is not apparent. If you fancied contacting him about it though, you can as all his socialness is available. He's got his little ideas (Twitter), big ideas (Tumblr), things he's watching (Netflix) and things you can watch (YouTube) all of which is entirely engaging.
Are you an online social butterfly running out of room on your business card? If so I'd highly recommend adding them all into a Flavor.Me page and uniting them under one URL. You can see the potential above; why not grab a personal home page all of your own?

What to Do When Your iPhone is Stolen?
As of 2010, over 3 million people in the United Kingdom (UK) owned an Apple iPhone. Many can attest to the fact that a stolen handset creates multiple problems. The devices hold personal data that could wreak havoc in the wrong hands. Once you realise the phone is missing, do the following:
What to Do When Your iPhone is Stolen?
1. Contact Your Service Provider
There are four major iPhone merchants in the UK: O2, Orange, Tesco Mobile and Vodafone. Customer service representatives place a block on incoming and outgoing calls so you do not rack up additional fees. They also block the international mobile equipment identity (IMEI) number so a warning appears if someone attempts to re-activate the handset.
2. Report the Incident to Local Law Enforcement
Theft is a crime, and the perpetrator should be held accountable for their actions. The Metropolitan Police indicate that approximately 10,000 phones are stolen each month in the UK.
3. Change Your Passwords
iTunes, Twitter, email addresses and other applications on a stolen handset are left vulnerable to hijacking. Immediately change all passwords to safeguard personal information.
4. Use MobileMe Service for Remote Control of Missing Handsets
The Find My iPhone programme offers a variety of options for stolen devices.
- Activate a loud two minute noise to bring attention to the device or display return instructions on the mobile screen.
- Track the device using built-in global positioning system (GPS) features. The physical location is displayed on Google Maps.
- Lock the keypad so the thief cannot make any calls.
- Erase all information from the handset by activating the wipe feature. Replace the information using iTunes backup if the handset is recovered at a later time.
Note that MobileMe only works if you have signed up before the handset was stolen.
5. Contact Your Contacts
When an iPhone is stolen, contact information is left open and vulnerable. Call friends and business associates to inform them the handset was stolen. This help to safeguard against fraudulent activity.
6. Inform your employer
A key piece of advice for people using company-issued iPhones.
Actions should be completed immediately to avoid security breeches or identity theft. Providers are not required to replace uninsured phones, so purchase a pay-as-you-go device if you wish to continue using an iPhone. If you opted for a contract plan but did not insure the handset, your provider can continue billing for the duration of the contract. This occurs even if you decide not to replace the phone. With any luck, your headset will be discovered quickly and everything can return back to normal.

Best Gadgets to Come Out of the 2011 Korea Electronics Show
The 2011 Korea Electronics Show celebrated its 4th successful year during October 12-15, when it was held at the Korea International Exhibition Center in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Exhibitors from 30 different countries displayed a variety of products from televisions to robotic housekeepers.
This year’s theme, “Be Smart,” focused on the overwhelming popularity of
Samsung, one of the largest tech firms in Korea, showcased a number of exciting products, but the most important of these was the Galaxy II LTE, their latest smart phone meant to compete with Apple’s iPhone. The phone features cutting-edge technology by supporting LTE, which enables transmission up to five times faster than 3G network. Users can now download videos, music and texts with blinding speed. Samsung also introduced a more affordable tablet PC meant to compete with Apple’s iPad.
Samsung displayed a number of other exciting products as well. They have developed “smart” refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens and laundry machines to connect to smart phones. Users can then control their operation through the phone as well as diagnose any problems that occur. Samsung also featured a variety of new recording devices, such as the WB750, a camera that can record in full HD as well as take pictures, thereby eliminating the need to carry both a camera and a camcorder.
LG, another large Korean firm that specializes in HDTVs, made a huge impression by displaying a giant 3D LED screen meant to showcase the company’s latest 3D viewing technology for home theaters. LG is considered to be at the forefront of 3D TVs, which shows with their latest creation – the Cinema display. These screens, which are without glass, instead use eye tracking technology to produce a much sharper 3D image. Since some users have complained of headaches and nausea from 3D screens, perhaps this will help reduce their discomfort.
While Korean companies represented the bulk of the tradeshow, tech firms from other countries also revealed exciting new products. Merck Advanced Technology, a German company that designs liquid crystal displays for devices such as television screens, introduced the OLED. This organic LED will revolutionize LCD HDTV design because it requires no backlight and produces a much sharper image - all while emitting less light than a traditional LED. This will lead to much thinner and lighter televisions with sharper images.
Taiyo Yuden, a company from Japan, also impressed visitors with a variety of “green” products for use in smart phones. Taiyo Yuden DVD-R and CD-R products are often considered to be the best in recordable media due to the high quality materials they use, which is why the eco-friendly components they have introduced for smart phone construction are also expected to be of the highest quality.

5 Morbid Items that People Actually Collect
Collecting has been a popular hobby for centuries. Weird and wonderful objects including matchboxes, stamps, coins and buttons have whetted tastes around the world. There are many people out there who are drawn to the weird and the unusual. The more unusual and rare the object, the more unique the collectible and the more interesting the hobby. Here we have a rundown of five of the most common morbid and morose collectibles…
5 Morbid Items that People Actually Collect
Taxidermy
Taxidermists are those who mount/reproduce dead animals for display. Taxidermy can be performed on any type of vertebrate species. It is common practice in museums but is a common collectible hobby for hunters and fishermen. Methods used in taxidermy include skinning the animal, using preservation chemicals and mounting the animal on a wood or wool mount.
The ethos of taxidermy to ‘preserve’ animals, especially after they are extinct, is also apparent in other morbid collectibles such as preserved human organs and the brains of convicted criminals. The Mutter Museum of Medical Oddities in Philadelphia holds an extensive collection of such items.
Memento Mori
This Latin phrase meaning “remember your mortality” is also the name of a particular form of artistic work that was especially common in the nineteenth century during the Victorian era. Victorian’s are famous for being incredibly sentimental and Memento Mori or ‘mourning jewellery’, served as a reminder of death and to project ones grief.
Common symbols used for this jewellery were interpretations of skulls, coffins, willow trees, teardrops and religious tokenism, and each piece carried a specific meaning.
Often the jewellery was inscribed with the deceased name and could vary from brooches, lockets, necklaces, rings, watch fobs and hair wreaths.
Victorian Post-Mortem Photography
Another popular morbid collectible – also known as memorial portraiture – is similar in principle to memento mori in that it was about remembering the deceased. This practice of photographing the recently deceased was especially common with young children and infants. During the Victorian era child mortality was incredibly high and as such, these images were often one of the few – if only – pictures of the child.
Later forms of these were ‘carte de visites’ - small photographs which were exchanged amongst friends and visitors. As this practice has largely deceased in today’s society, it is now commonly seen as vulgar, sensationalistic and taboo, hence a rather unique collectible.
Medical Instruments
Medical tools and instruments which represent early and out-dated forms of medical practice and torture are another popular collectible. These items can include knee splitters, the Judas chair and choke pear, as well an abundance of knives, crimpers and incision objects.
Especially due to today’s society where such practice is illegal and largely intolerable, these items are resonant of an era centuries ago. The more grotesque and shocking the medical practice or torture, the more valuable and prized the collectible.
Bones
Another incredibly morbid yet popular collectible is bones. We as humans have a fascination with death as well as life, and bones represent both in a striking way. Consider ones pet for example, an owner may wish to keep a bone(s) to remain feeling close to the animal as opposed to merely burying the animal where it would decompose.
Although a memento or more ’normal’ collectibles such as a photo or collar may still be held dear and serve as a reminder of the pet, a bone can truly signify the life and death of the animal. Many believe it is rather disrespectful yet others believe it is the best way of honouring the animal. In some instances even, such practice is more commonly acceptable such as jewellery made from teeth etc.

Top 10 Tools for Responsive Web Design
Today, people use many different devices to access the Internet. Laptops, desktops and netbooks may be the most common, but many people like the convenience of looking up information on the go with tablets and smartphones. To further complicate matters, each device has different size or resolution options and each size displays a web page differently.
As a designer, it's hard to design a website that works on all screen resolutions on all devices, but this is necessary so your pages can be viewed. Responsive design means creating a website that can be accessed on different screens with different resolutions. Creating a web page with fluid queries, images and grids means the page can be viewed on multiple devices. Here are 10 tools to help you create a responsive web page.

5 Website Building Myths Debunked
5 Website Building Myths Debunked
Myth #1— Programming Necessary
Only a few million people worldwide can write programming code or website HTML, yet hundreds of millions of people have websites, proving that you don’t need to program your own website.
A great way to create a website with no programming necessary is to use a Content Management System (CMS) like WordPress. WordPress takes your text and automatically adds all of the necessary HTML code to make your page appear on the Web. It even helps you choose a website design which will please your visitors.
Myth #2— Websites Are Expensive
Free websites have been around since Geocities back in 1999, but they’ve never been easier to use than today—that’s because a lot of today’s free websites are based on WordPress.
But professional websites shouldn’t use free hosting. They should use paid hosting for its greater control and better appearance—yet this paid hosting only costs about $0.10 a day, making it probably the smallest of your business expenses. (It’s less expensive than most homemade cups of coffee!) Plus, you can still get the easy-to-use WordPress with almost all paid hosting accounts.
Myth #3— Websites Are Hard
Lots of people hire website developers because they think building a website takes a lot of work, but then the developer turns around, installs WordPress, and then charges you $500 for five minutes of work—work you could’ve done on your own in the same five minutes.
Creating a website is as easy as just installing the free WordPress software, creating an account and password, and writing your homepage in plain English (or whatever language you decide to use). WordPress comes with an attractive default theme and there are hundreds of other free attractive themes you can download in seconds.
Making a website these days is too easy to pay anyone else to do.
Myth #4— You Need To Know Javascript, AJAX, CSS
Interactive websites today are built with a whole bunch of advanced technologies, so you might think you need to learn all of these technologies to get the most out of your website. But if that were true, you’d need to learn microprocessor programming to use your computer too.
The truth is that WordPress and other content management systems are the Microsoft Windows of website design. You simply point and click to create websites that use all of the advanced technologies available. And when your visitors see the results, they won’t care whether you wrote the code or whether you downloaded it for free with WordPress.
Myth #5— You Need To Learn SEO And Other Skills
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and other skills can help you attract traffic to your website, but you can actually learn these skills while you build your website by installing a WordPress plugin that tells you what to do. I use a SEO plugin all the time before I publish articles and it gives me an easy-to-understand score that tells me how well I’m doing.
Building a high-quality website has never been easier, so clear your head of the myths that are holding you back and get started today.
There’s a lot of bad information about website building , from the idea that you need to learn programming first to the belief that buildin...
30 Terrific Twitter Facts And Figures
Twitter has always suffered an image problem and is not usually taken very seriously by the general public. Its name doesn’t help with some people even saying that ‘Twitter is for twits’. Despite this glamor and brand problem this has not held back its growth after its humble origins and launch in 2006.
Since then Twitter has gained popularity worldwide and is estimated to have 225 million users, generating 65 million tweets a day and handling over 800,000 search queries per day. It is sometimes described as the “SMS of the Internet” and its 140 character limit keeps the messages short and simple.
Its attraction as a social web media platform is maybe in its simplicity and real time messaging that enables breaking news and information to hit the web instantly without filters and censorship.
30 Terrific Twitter Facts and Figures
- Twitter was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey and launched in July of that year.
- Twitter’s origins lie in a “day long brainstorming session” that was held by board members of the podcasting company Odeo. While sitting in a park on a children’s slide and eating Mexican food, Dorsey introduced the idea of an individual using an SMS service to communicate with a small group.
- The first Twitter prototype was used as an internal service for Odeo employees and the full version was introduced publicly on July 15, 2006
- The original project code name for the service was ‘twttr‘, an idea that Williams later ascribed to Noah Glass, inspired by the name of the social media image website ‘Flickr’ and the five-character length of American SMS short codes.
- The team finally settled on the name ‘twitter‘, which means ‘chirps from birds’ in essence ‘a short burst of inconsequential information’
- The tipping point for Twitter’s popularity was the 2007 South by Southwest (SXSW) festival. During the event, Twitter usage increased from 20,000 tweets per day to 60,000.
- It had 400,000 tweets posted per quarter in 2007
- In 2008 there were only 3 million registered users
- In 2008 there were only 1.25 million tweets per day
- Jan 2008 there were only 8 employees
- In 2009 or 2 years ago Twitter had 8 million registered users
- In 2011 there are now over 400 employees
- 75% of Twitter traffic comes from third-party applications
- 60% of all tweets come from third-party apps
- There are over 100,000 Twitter applications
- A Forrester report revealed that “Twitterers are the connected of the connected, overindexing at all Social Media habits. For example, Twitterers are three times more likely to be Creators (people who create and share content via blog posts and YouTube) as the general US population” (source : Forrester report “Who Flocks to Twitter”)
- 3 years, 2 months and 1 day…the time it took from the first tweet to the billionth tweet.
- It now takes one week for users to send a billion Tweets.
- In March 2010 the average number of tweets people sent per week was the the 350 million.
- 140 million is the average number of tweets people sent per day in February 2011
- 177 million tweets sent on March 11, 2011.
- When Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009 there were 456 tweets per second (TPS)…a record at that time.
- The current TPS record is 6,939 tweets per second set 4 seconds after midnight in Japan on New Year’s Day
- 572,000 is the number of new accounts created in one day (March 12, 2011)
- 460,000 is the average number of new accounts per day created in February, 2011
- 182% is the increase in number of mobile users over the past year.
- In March 2011 there are an estimated 225 million users
- 25 billion tweets sent on Twitter in 2010
- 100 million new accounts added on Twitter in 2010
- The first unassisted off-Earth Twitter message was posted from the International Space Station by NASA astronaut T. J. Creamer on January 22, 2010

A Supercharged Guide for Link Building
You need links that are going to last, and links that are going to provide more value than juice to your site. You want your links to benefit your site in other ways as well, like gaining more exposure, traffic, and so on and so forth.
When you are prospecting your links here are some cool things to keep in mind:
- Page Rank is not a magic number, and it fluctuates quite frequently. Never game plan your whole link building campaign around page rank alone. There are a lot better things you can come up with for blog requirements for guest posting on, like Alexa Rank, how many comments each post is getting, and how many social signals each post is getting.
- Relevancy is awesome, and it shows Google what your web site is about, but sticking with the whole "building links to gain traffic" theme, you are probably going to want to venture outside of your niche a little bit and do a little bit of cross promotional tactics. Cross promoting onto a new blog is a great way to gain new incoming traffic. Perhaps someone that doesn't know anything about SEO but you think that the type of audience that a certain blog might have could definitely be the type of audience that would be interested in exactly what you are offering.
- There are tons of web sites out there that pay for guest posts as well as offer links. If you can build your own personal list of these websites, and kill two birds with one stone, then you can be profitable while you are doing link building for your own site. This will give you a little extra incentive for sticking with your link building campaign.

10 Commandments Of Link Building (Infographic)
How to Build Link to Get the Most Benefits
Tip Number 1: Using Third Party Web Sites
There are many different web sites out there that are very useful for finding quality, contextual links. Some examples include MyBlogGuest.com and BloggerLinkUp.com. Both allow you to hook up with bloggers who are in dire need of quality content for their blogs in a number of different niches. What you get in return: Usually a pretty solid link.
Tip Number 2: Advanced Searching Operators
My favorite searching operator is the "keyword + intitle:"write for us"" search. It allows you to have a list of thousands of blogs that are offering up opportunities for guest posting that show up in the SERPs.
One way I like to filter these results is by the date the page was constructed. The more recent the time period, the more relevant the page becomes, hence you know that the web site was looking for writers quite recently whereas without the filter the page may be old or even outdated and they aren't actually looking for anyone else to contribute at that time.
Tip Number 3: Using Blog Directories
Sites like Technorati are great for finding prospects. The best part about Technorati is that it is organized by the quality of the blog (although it doesn't always necessarily work out that way), and you can easily find some good prospects. The bad part - well not every blog that is on the Internet is listed on their site, and a lot of the prospects would be in what I like to call "bad blogging neighborhoods" - as in they exist for the sole reason to sell links. However they are pretty easy to identify and steer away from with just a little bit of "know how."
Tip Number 4: Using Link Building Software
I have always been a big fan of link building software. It allows you to keep track of all sorts of different information that can become very useful like all of the different metrics for a website. However that being said, sometimes keeping track of every little thing can become quite time consuming and it can take away from the quality of your writing. How Star Trek Brought Holograms to Life
Say what you will about Star Trek and the dedicated souls that follow it, but the inventive minds behind the show had no qualms about challenging contemporary ideas regarding the use of technology in everyday life. While this may seem like a given (it does take place in space, after all), many viewers take for granted the riskiness of such a bold outlook on science. Creator Gene Roddenberry was faced with building a story around a civilization firmly rooted in space travel and heavily dependent on far-out futuristic technologies, but that retained its humanity and an inherent sense of history. The imagination is boundless, but in order to make a show as captivating as Star Trek, Roddenberry had to make the futuristic technology and engineering in the show seem like a reasonable accomplishment of human science in a distant but foreseeable future.
The original Star Trek seems low-tech compared to its successors. It was, after all, limited to the rendering and television production technology of its time. Beginning with Star Trek: The Next Generation, the technological capabilities of the human (and alien) civilizations seem to have compounded since their humble beginnings. Not only was the U.S.S. Enterprise equipped with sliding doors, photon torpedoes and advanced communications, it possessed ability to generate holograms – a technology that would drastically change the lives of the individuals that crewed the starship.
For those not in the know, a hologram is a projected image made of light that appears to be three-dimensional, although (technically) it has no actual mass. This technology (in a less advanced form) does exist in the real world today, although the applications aren’t too similar to those used in any of the Star Trek series. Imagination is a driving force behind the highly intricate holograms used in this Sci-Fi staple, and the use of holograms became as important as to become a driving force for several storylines in the show.
Included aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, as well as the U.S.S. Voyager of the Star Trek: Voyager series, was a fully functional, highly advanced holodeck. The holodeck is an elaborate platform capable of producing tangible, opaque holograms that are driven by artificial intelligence and are used as one of the primary forms of entertainment onboard these starships. The holodecks are programmed with centuries’ worth of literature, film and history scenarios that are programmed to interact with the living people and aliens who use the holodecks. Crew members also have the option of programming their own personalized holodeck scenes to be acted out in virtually any situation they desire.
Each of the main characters found special uses for the holodeck. Captain Picard was fond of mysteries such as Sherlock Holmes and 1940’s crime noir. Captain Kathryn Janeway, true to her character’s nature, preferred storylines with strong female characters and just a touch of romance. There were moments, however, when the holodeck turned against its users. There were several episodes of Star Trek: Voyager in which holodeck malfunctions caused the AIs to become self-aware and question their programming.
As advanced as the holodeck programs are, they pale in comparison to the dynamics of the Doctor. The Doctor is the holographic medical specialist on board the U.S.S. Voyager, and rather than being an empty soulless character, his holographic nature serves as a springboard for deep growth and a storyline that leaves viewers asking what it really means to be human. Initially restricted to the confines of the medical bay, the Doctor eventually receives a holographic transmitter that allows him to travel around and even outside of the ship.
The creators of Star Trek use holograms and the related technology to add depth and color to a concept that could easily go wrong. TNG’s Lieutenant Commander Data (a sentient android with an intense desire to be human) serves as an excellent counterpart to Voyager’s Doctor. There are moments when the characters born of science and energy show more compassion and human sensitivity than their organic crewmates. While this may seem like a mere gimmick to attract viewers, it makes a strong statement regarding the necessity of the human element in any technological development, no matter how advanced, for without it, technology cannot grow.

As we all spend more and more time listening to music, watching movies and digesting stimulating web content from a variety of locations. After all, if we’re going to be listening to music every day, we want to ensure we’re getting the best possible quality.
Below is a list of the best headphones for music lovers currently on the market for a variety of different audio purposes. Remember, as trusted as Apple’s pure white ear buds are, there are plenty of other alternatives for those who seek the optimum best in audio entertainment.

Get Success As A Niche Blogger Follwing These Five Steps
You will need to put in a lot of time and a lot of effort but trust me you can do it if you know how! Let’s have a look at a few of the steps you can take which can (if you do them correctly) lead to you getting success as a niche blogger.

Five Steps to Your Success as a Niche Blogger
Choose a Niche You are Passionate About
If your blogging empire becomes successful you will be writing about your chosen topic A LOT. So if you hate technology don’t write a blog about it. Your passion for a subject will show clearly in your writing and if you hate your subject your readers will see that and read someone else’s blog.
Not only that but writing on a topic you dislike can really demotivate you whereas if you write a blog on something you like it won’t seem like work. If you are interested in fashion it is likely that you will read a lot of fashion news on a daily basis – a lot of knowledge about your chosen niche can take you far.
Stay Focussed on Your Niche
Niche means small and you will need to focus on the small area of whatever it is you are writing about. If you are choosing to write about scuba diving, don’t start branching off into other areas of extreme sports as this can and will lose you readers. If you are an expert in the scuba niche, stick to it – you will, in time reach out to a number of other scuba divers and they will visit you because of your apparent knowledge in the subject.
Be Wary of Trends Changing
Just because something is hot right now, it does not mean it will be in a year. For example, my first blog was all about Beppe Di Marco from Eastenders (I know I’m sad) and when he left the show, my readers grew less interested with my blog. This can happen to almost any blog that is written about a current hot topic. You will be better off choosing a subject that you enjoy yet one that has staying power.
Keyword Research
Blogging is not just about writing engaging text that your readers will love, although this is a big part of it. You also need to keyword optimise your blog so that people will find you in the first place.
For example, if you have a blog on surfing in Australia you need to include ‘surfing in Australia’ or something similar as a targeted keyword in your blog posts. So when people search for this phrase in Google your site will appear – where it appears will depend on other factors.

Comment on other people’s blogs (don’t spam them) and you may find some people who are interested in what you have to say too. In time as your reputation as an expert grows you may also be asked to write a guest blog post for a popular blog in exchange for links to your blog too.
To really succeed though, you are going to have to put in the time and effort. The successful bloggers and of today didn’t just wake up, think about starting a blog and then make thousands overnight. By following the above tips you are sure to start your journey on the road to niche blogging success.

How Many Times Per Day Should I Check Email (To Stay Productive)?
In some settings, there may not be a choice in the matter. Some office systems are set up so that an employee has to respond to an email from a supervisor or a customer within a certain time frame. This is especially true in customer service. Despite the seeming responsiveness of such a system, it is, in actuality, extremely counterproductive and time wasting.
Tips to Stay Productive
Avoid Information Overload
Those of us who work at a computer and receive correspondence via email need to find the best mix of keeping in touch and keeping their work flowing smoothly. Work efficiency gurus advise that so-called “knowledge” workers, that is, those who process information, should both limit interruptions and be careful of overload. This sound advice can be used to formulate the perfect rule of thumb for checking email.
For many reasons, if you work at a computer, you need to take periodic breaks. You need to clear your head so you can think better, you need to stretch and relieve the pressure in your neck and hands, and you need to review and re-evaluate your processes. Most efficiency experts find that at about fifty minutes of continuous work, both the mind and body needs a rest. They advise saving your work, stepping away from your desk for a short walk to the rest room, to get water or coffee, and to stretch. This break should not take more than ten minutes, because you do not want to lose the flow of your work completely.
Email Can Be Treated As a Break
This gives us an ideal guideline for checking email. After a short walk, a stretch and a fresh cup of water or coffee, visit your inbox and see what has been happening. For most people, there is no emergency that will arrive over email that cannot wait an hour.
Depending on the nature of your work, you may have to deal with issues raised on the internet right away, but if possible, batch your tasks and wait until you have reached a logical stopping point on the project you are currently working on, and then respond to non urgent emails. Your day will flow more smoothly if you avoid the constant interruption of emails, and you can concentrate on well formulated responses, or do any necessary research before answering, if your mind is not on your other work.
A key point is to avoid, if you possibly can, are email reminder systems that constantly beep and remind you of incoming messages. If you can work in a focused manner on a project, then deal with emails in their own time slot, you are bound to have a more productive work day.
In today’s highly interconnected world, we are expected to be in touch, in one way or another, usually many more than one, with just about e...
Smartphone Apps for Car Insurance
Smartphones offer customers several apps to help them meet their insurance needs. Smartphone users can find out how much the insurance on a new car is likely to cost or what to do if they get into an accident. However, right now smartphones don't offer apps to compare insurance prices from different insurance companies. If a user wants to get this type of information, he has to get onto a website that compares auto insurance prices. While he can still do that with his smartphone, it's a slow and laborious process when trying to navigate on a smartphone. It would would be much easier if he had an app that gave him this information.

Current Apps
Most smartphones offer various apps related to car insurance. You can get a quote on car insurance, though you can't get multiple quotes. You can also compare rates on different automobiles. This is helpful if you're shopping for a new car. The app will let you know the rates and monthly payments for several vehicles so that you can consider the cost of insurance when deciding whether to purchase a particular vehicle. Some of the top auto insurance companies also offer information and checklists for what to do after an accident. If you get into an accident, the app can remind you to exchange information with the other driver, take photos of the scene and call 911 if anyone has been injured.
Streamlined Websites
Although no insurance company currently offers an app that makes it easy to compare insurance rates from different companies, some companies offer streamlined versions of their websites for smartphone users. For example, Progressive Insurance offers a streamlined website to make it easier for mobile users to compare auto insurance prices through their website. However, the user would have to go to the mobile version of Progressive's website and type in information to do this, which is less convenient than loading an app with their information pre-loaded.
Types of Smartphones
Insurance companies offer insurance-related apps to the IPhone, although some insurance companies are starting to offer versions of their apps for the Android, the Blackberry and other smartphones. For an insurance comparison app to be useful, it needs to be available for the majority of smartphones so that most smartphone users can easily access it.
Benefits of App
A rate comparison app would be more convenient for smartphone users than going to the web. An app could allow users to get the information they need with only a few clicks. For example, the app could automatically download the user's current insurance rate and driving record to instantly compare prices. Users might be more likely to use an app than a website since they know the app will quickly give them the information they need and they won't have to first search for the website and then type information into it. An app could also allow users to order insurance instantly after comparing rates, which would make it easier for them to purchase insurance.

Social Media: The Future of Consumer Services?
This means that would-be buyers have access to a huge amount of information about every product that they're interested in. Before walking in to a restaurant, consumers can check the reviews and tips on Foursquare. Before hiring a consultant, they can look at the number of recommendations the person has on LinkedIn. There's even an application for mobile phones that lets people rate public restrooms!
Social Media as the Future of Consumer Services?
As a business owner, it's more important than ever to make sure that you're in-touch when it comes to social media. Whether you sell a product, a service, or a combination of both, it's important that you're reachable, and that you're also reaching out to your customers.
A few years ago, if you had a good understanding of VoIP for business, then you were ahead of the crowd. Today, VoIP is something that even the least tech savvy consumer makes use of - sometimes without even realising that they aren't hooked up to the normal telephone system. Today, if you want to stay ahead, you need to keep an eye on as many channels as possible.
You Can't Please Everyone
It's impossible to please everyone, and if you try to do so, you'll end up diluting your product to the extent that it becomes completely useless. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't try to keep people happy, however. It just means that you should make sure that the people you work hardest to please are the people who are currently paying customers.
Don't waste time and resources reading and responding to every single person that posts about your product on a forum. Instead, focus your efforts. Make sure you're easy to reach - you've shelled out for a good VOIP for business package, so make use of that VOIP service by offering a contact form with a call-back feature. Offer live web chat support, and have someone keep an eye on Twitter for you. Doing customer support by Twitter is a good way to drive your support staff insane, but using Twitter to triage problems and arrange for second line support to reach people with a genuine issue is a good way to build goodwill.
It's a good idea to set up a presence on all the major social sites, too. Even if you don't use them full time, claiming your company's username on all the important sites, and directing your customers to your main website will prevent someone else from stealing that username and using it for something that could damage your reputation.
Try not to get too upset about negative messages posted online. Sometimes, the loudest, most vitriolic posters are people that aren't even regular users of your product. It's always nice to try to resolve complaints, but make sure you know why they're complaining, and focus on your real customers - not anonymous internet posters.

Job-Specific Apps
One job-specific app is iAnnotate. This is the favorite app of Marlon Wayans of the comedy titans Wayans Bros. This app lets him read and make notes on his scripts. This is a good one for wannabe actors, of course.
Actor Neil Patrick Harris’ favorite iPhone app is Hitchcock, which lets you set up storyboards with photos you have taken. This is a good one for wannabe film directors.
Health-Related Apps
Work is not everything and celebrities have their favorite health-related apps as well. Comedian Jake Hurwitz of the sketch Jake and Amir likes iMapMyRun. This is a great one to stay in shape with, allowing you to map running routes and find running maps. The creator of CollegeHumor.com, Ricky Van Veen, likes Seamless Web, which lets you order lunch no matter whether you are in a meeting or busy doing something else. When you have finished your job and get back to your office famished, the food is waiting for you on your office desk.
Comedian Lisa Lampanelli also has a food and diet-related favorite - the Weight Watchers mobile app. This app translates every calorie into points so that you know whether you have reached your personal limit for the day. This sounds pretty useful at first, but when you think about it, it is not enough to have an app that says you have eaten too much for the day and can’t have a single Oreo more until tomorrow. The motivation provided therein is insufficient.
Apps That Inspire
Adrian Grenier and film producer Peter Glatzer inform that they are developing a special phone app called AOK, an acronym for Acts of Kindness. The app is based on the acts of kindness of community members and a respective rewards system. This is a way to find other gentle, kind-hearted iPhone users near you, be grateful for their acts and observations of kindness and be inspired.
Game Apps
Angry Birds is a favorite of many celebrities. It has also won awards for the best mobile game on an iPhone. This is a favorite of video star Antoine Dodson and Damian Kulash of the band OK Go. This game is very exciting, so be sure to check it out. Angry Birds features lots of repay value, challenging castle demolition, and hours of game play.
