The Age of Internet Users is On the Rise

In the past, the average age of internet users was around 21-24 years of age. This tool was most popular among young adults and teens. However, over time, that paradigm has shifted. While the average age has only risen to about 28, the number of older adults using the internet has significantly increased over the years. For many of us today, we see our grandparents and parents as the type to never use the internet. In our young adult years, we probably spent time helping them figure out the basics or even just trying to explain the benefits to them.

Today, all kinds of people are getting involved in the internet. There is something for just about everyone here, after all, including plenty of resources for older adults who want to engage in the world of technology. From social networking to information, and even online shopping, it's getting increasingly easier to find all types of people and all age groups having an online presence. Whether you're here to learn or just have a good time, there is no age limit on technology and how you can take advantage of it.

The Age of Internet Users is On the Rise

Not only is it becoming easier to get involved in the online world, but many companies and businesses are making it nearly impossible to not be involved. Whether it's special offers and discounts or just access to more information, companies do their best to utilize the internet to their advantage. This means that their audience has to reach out and expand their access to get the most from the business. It's a relatively simple concept for most of the 20-40 age group, but for those who didn't grow up with technology, it can be hard to get their foot in the door.

It's interesting to see trends and statistics changing over time as the internet creates a world that is truly all-inclusive. Of course, different age groups have different uses of the internet, as well. For example, young adults typically use the internet for social or professional networking, while adults age 29-40 are more inclined to use the internet for professional networking or information and research. Many people are surprised to learn that a lot of older adults (50+) utilize the internet for social networking and staying in touch just as much as young adults do.

It doesn't matter how or why you use the internet because there is something for just about everyone. In a time when technology is more prevalent than ever, it just makes sense to take advantage of what you can regardless of your age or interest in the internet.
