Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus : Everything You Need to Know
Like always, there are two major versions of the Galaxy S8 : the standard Galaxy S8 smartphone with a 5.8-inch screen and the larger variant S8 Plus with a 6.2-inch screen. This time, there is no difference in terms of special screen feature like the curved Edge screen.
Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with 1440 x 2960 pixel resolution, 570 PPI pixel density and amazing 83.6% screen-to-body ratio. The screen and the back panel both are protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. There is no physical Home button provided but a 3D touch button hidden in the tiny bezel right below the screen.
The US model of the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be powered by Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor as the combination of two quad-core Kryo processor clocked at 2.35 GHz and 1.9 GHz. The EMEA variant of Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature the Exynos 8895 octa-core processor as the combination of 2.3 GHz and 1.7 GHz quad-cores.
The amount of RAM is 4 GB and internal memory is 64 GB. There is a memory card slot provided that supports the microSD card of up to 256 GB. The dual-SIM variant comes with the hybrid SIM slot, so the second SIM slot will be used as the memory card slot. The fingerprint sensor is provided at the back right next to the camera.
On the imaging side, there is a Dual-Pixel 12 MP primary camera provided with f/1.7, Phase Detection Autofocus, Optical Image Stabilization, simultaneous 4K video recording and 9MP image capturing. Galaxy S8 is capable of recording videos as 2160p@60fps and 1080p@120fps. There is a dual-video recording mode provided as well. On the front side, there is an 8 MP camera with f/1.7, autofocus, dual video call and Auto HDR
As it was leaked earlier, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ come with a Lumia Continuum like feature called DeX that let you connect your Galaxy S8 devices with a special dock to an external screen, keyboard and mouse to get a full desktop mode to access the Android apps on a bigger screen.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus comes with a 6.2-inch screen with same resolution, so the PPI is slightly reduced to 529. The battery capacity is increased to 3500 mAh in it from 3000 mAh of Galaxy S8. Rest all features and hardware specs are exactly similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8.

7 Movies that Would have Ended Better with Smartphones (Funny Comics)
UK-based Internet service provider Plusnet reimagined what some iconic films would be like if the protagonists had smartphones, and the results are pretty entertaining.
Have a look on the below comic strips illustrating how the inclusion of a smartphone into iconic films would have drastically altered the plot.
Films that Would have Ended Better with Smartphones (Funny Comics)
Castaway
When Chuck Noland’s plane crashes he becomes stranded on an uninhabited island, his situation looks bleak.
He’s forced to create ‘Wilson’ from an old volleyball to stave off the loneliness and tedium, but if Chuck had a smartphone with him, he’d have access to an unlimited world of entertainment. With the current political climate, moving to a deserted island seems like a great idea.
Fight Club
In an attempt to snap out of his ennui and dissatisfaction with the world, an unnamed protagonist forms an underground fighting club after meeting the enigmatic soap salesman, Tyler Durden.
After establishing a nihilistic band of followers, things take a more destructive turn as they carry out a series of terrorist attacks. A simple selfie would have exposed the truth – that Tyler doesn’t really exist.
Jingle All the Way
After his keeps him away from spending time with his family, Howard Langston is desperate to give his son the Turbo Man action figure he covets. A madcap adventure ensues as Howard clashes with the police and fellow shoppers on his quest, culminating with a climactic fight at a parade.
If he had access to a smartphone, he could have avoided all this, and had a Turbo Man delivered to his doorstep inside an hour.
Lord of the Rings
This epic journey across a fantasy world of sinister sorcerers, blood-thirsty goblins, and terrible trolls would have been a lot quicker if Frodo could have used a phone for directions. No need for the fellowship, no need for Gollum, and no need for nearly getting eaten by a giant spider.
Psycho
A stay at the Bates Motel is almost guaranteed to end in violence. If any of the characters from Alfred Hitchcock’s classic movie had been able to check TripAdvisor, Marion Crane would have probably opted for a Travel Lodge instead.
The Ring
Having even a cursory glance at IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes is a modern prerequisite to watching a movie. Considering that watching a tape in this movie ends in certain death courtesy of the creepiest kid in the world, the reviews aren’t likely to be encouraging.
The Shining
In The Shining, Jack Torrance accepts a caretaker position in the remote Overlook Hotel to give him the peace and quiet he needs to write a novel. But things don’t work out too well.
Isolated, bored, and plagued by writer’s block, he slowly succumbs to madness, attempting to kill his wife and son. If he’d brought a phone with him, he could have whiled away hours playing games, browsing the internet, and taking selfies instead of working, like we all do.
Smartphones save us from all sorts of drama. Whether it’s directions to a job interview or a last-minute present for a loved one, where wou...
Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 : Hands-on Review, Specs and Features
We were trying our hands on the device since last few days and in this article, we are going to share detailed hands-on review of Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 smartphone for all readers of Geeky Stuffs.
This review of Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is divided in various sections covering pros and cons of each of them to provide in-depth information.
Infinix Note 3 Pro X601: Hands-on Review, Specs and Features
Retail Box and Unboxing
Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 comes in a nice looking and a bit stretched blue colored retail box. You will find most of the highlighted specs of the device printed on it.
Inside the retail box, you will find the handset, USB cable, charger, SIM card trey ejector pin, tampered glass screen protector, earphones and some user manuals.
You can watch our Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 unboxing video below.
Design
Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is a big device with 6 inch screen size. The thickness is not too much with 8.4mm even though it comes with a massive 4,500 mAh battery because of the large size of the device. It is pretty lightweight considering a big battery and metal body.
The power button is easy to reach but the volume rockers are a bit above the thumb reach as all keys are on the same side of the phone. It would be better if the volume keys were on the other side separately at the well placed spot for each access.
The screen-to-body ratio is not good as there are lots of empty and useless space below screen since there are no off-screen capacitive keys provided in that area. The area above the screen is nice but could be reduced a bit as well
The back of the Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is nice and minimal. There is Infinix logo in the middle of the back panel and the fingerprint sensor, LED flash and primary camera are just above it in the same order as mentioned.
The back panel is non-removable and so the battery can’t come out. 3.5mm audio jack is at top, a large speaker grill and USB port at the bottom of the device.
The overall design of the Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is good, beautiful, lightweight and it feels nice in hand too. But the device could have a better screen-to-body ratio to make it look better.
Screen and Display
Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 comes with a 6-inch IPS screen with 1080p full HD resolution, so the PPI you will get is 373 on it. So the resolution is good enough to provide a nice display quality and sharp enough. As already said, the screen-to-body ratio is a bit low and it adds a bit of bulk to the device.
There is no protection provided on the screen of Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 to protect it from scratches and minor damages. And that is why, Infinix is providing a tampered glass screen protector in the retail box itself.
Hardware and OS
Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 comes with MediaTek™ 6753 64-bit 1.3GHz octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and Mali T720 GPU. Though the processor is good enough for daily usage, the GPU is very poor. Mali T720 is well known for having average performance and using it in a smartphone with 1080p resolution is really a bad idea.
Internal storage of the device is 16GB only , out of which user available memory is a bit more than 10GB. There is a dedicated memory card slot provided that supports up to 128GB of microSD card. Out of 3GB RAM, user available RAM is around 1.8GB only but still you will not feel any lag in daily usage on the device.
Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is a dual SIM device and supports micro SIM cards. The SIM card trey look a bit weak and they are hard to use with a SIM adaptor as the slot is very narrow. There is 4G LTE connectivity provided and it works quite good too. The network signal detection is good and the voice quality is nice as well.
In our benchmarking test, Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 performed as expected because of the combination of average CPU and poor GPU. You can watch our benchmarking test videos of Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 below.
Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 runs on the XOS based on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The UI is smooth and responsive. There are some additional features and many are missing as well.
If you are an Android lover then you will find it very frustrating that you can’t put app icon on the Home screen, you can’t move apps to SD card or can’t use memory card as the internal storage that is a very popular feature of Android OS.
Camera and Imaging
Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 comes with a 13MP primary camera and 5MP front camera. There is no dedicated camera key but user can launch the camera without unlocking the device from the lock screen itself.
The camera quality is good and images coming out of the primary camera are good enough. The color saturation is good but a bit under-saturated. The sharpness is good and details are nice too.
Primary camera is capable of recording 1080p full HD videos with good amount of details. There is time lapse option given in the video settings. Burst mode is provided in the image settings too to capture up to 20 images in one shot.
Talking about the features, there are many photography modes like HDR, PIP etc. The front camera performance is nice too and it comes with a soft flash that let use capture good quality images in the low light situation.
Entertainment and Gaming
Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 comes with a huge 6-inch screen with good display quality that is really good to watch videos on it. There is FM radio provided in this device and the audio is really loud.
The speaker looks big because of the grill size and the audio is loud and clear, though it lacks a bit quality.
The gaming performance of Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is not so great. Even though the CPU and amount of RAM is good enough for most of the games, the GPU is what affects the performance negatively. Though we didn't feel frame drops and lags while playing high-end games, the gameplay was not so smooth and graphics quality was average too. 3D graphics rendering was okay but sometimes it performed poorly in games like Amazing Spider-Man by blurring the environment and breaking the image while zooming in.
But if you are not a gamer then, Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is capable of playing most of the popular games smoothly without any issue.
Battery Life
The most highlighted feature of Infinix Note series of smartphones is the battery life and the Note 3 Pro is not an exception. It comes with 4500 mAh battery along with the XCharge 3.0, a fast charging feature of Infinix. The device is claimed to have more than two days of battery life but with moderate usage, it survived for two days only and that is still nice.
With heavy usage, it lasted for a day only and had to charge the device again before going to the bed. But most of the time, it will easily go with one and half day with slight heavy usage.
There are also many power saving modes and options provided that helps in increasing the battery life by reducing the hardware performance and restricting many feature of the device.
Conclusion
Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is a nice mid-range Android smartphone. The battery life is great, design is good and full metal body feels great in hand. Display is good but comes with no protection on it. Performance is average and GPU is poor. Camera performance is good as well.
Considering the price of the device, Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is a nice device if you can ignore the poor GPU performance of it.
Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is the latest smartphone in the Note series of Infinix. As the name suggests, it is the advanced version of the Inf...
130+ Facts about Instagram You Should Know in 2017 (Infographic)
This level of user interactivity and the popularity of the social photo sharing application has also attracted tons of politicians onto the platform. To put things better into perspective, early on, before Instagram received so much attention and popularity, Facebook and Twitter were the platforms of choice for most politicians to post photos of themselves, or share messages with the world. While the popularity of Twitter for politicians gently declined, Facebook caught up. While the platform is still massively being used, why wouldn’t politicians consider the idea of creating Instagram accounts as well? After all, it gives them a means of sharing more photos which are not deemed as official, but also a means of accumulating a higher following, and better popularity with the masses.
Data present on an infographic blog post published by the folks behind Website Builders gives us some insight into who the top political leaders on Instagram are, and what it is that makes their accounts so popular in the long run.
The list, is, of course, started by Barack Obama, one of the world’s most popular presidents ever (twice the President of the United States of America). In total, his Instagram account ranks up 11.5 million followers, with 231 photos, and only 12 people that he’s following, thus showing that Obama doesn’t spend too much time looking at other people’s pictures.
The second place is owned by Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister, with 5.5 million followers, 85 photos, and no people following. Queen Rania Al Abdullah, the Queen consort of Jordan ranks 2.7 million followers, 665 photos, and only follows 2 people, whereas the Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev has 2.5 million followers, 500 photos, and follows one person. Last but not least, we also have Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister of the UAE, ranking 2.1 million followers, 783 photos, and only follows 36 people.
From this data, we can clearly see a trend amongst the world’s most popular leaders on Instagram. They don’t follow others! Either they lack the time, they are uninterested, or the accounts are used mainly for promotion purposes and are not at the discretion of the leaders. After all, who would’ve believed otherwise?
Based on everything that has been outlined so far, and taking into account the data provided by Website Builders, there’s a clear trend in Instagram accounts popping up for leaders throughout the world, who are slowly, but surely realizing the potential that the social photo sharing application actually has.

How to Download the Android O Developer Preview, List of All New Android O Features
According to Google, the next version of Android OS codenamed Android O will bring various new features including the new power and performance optimizations along with new ways to access and use the Android smartphone..
Few of the new features that Android O brings are new notification channels, PIP, adaptive app icons, various new APIs — autofill, font resources in XML, auto-sizing TextView, WebView enhancements, and more.
If you are interested in trying the Android 0 Developer Preview version then it is now available for various Google devices like Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel, Pixel XL and Pixel C on the Android Developer website by visiting the below link.
Click to Download the Android O Developer Preview.
Stable release OF Android O along with the official name of the OS version will be available in Q3 2017. Google stated that Android Beta is not currently available for Android O but it will be available soon and Google will invite Android users to try it out as well.
The complete list of all features of Android O are given below.
List of All New Features of Android O OS
Background Limits : Android O puts a big priority on improving a user’s battery life and the device’s interactive performance. Additional automatic limits on what apps can do in the background, in three main areas: implicit broadcasts, background services, and location updates. This will help create apps that have minimal impact on a user’s device and battery.
Notification Channels : Channels let developers give users fine-grained control over different kinds of notifications — users can block or change the behavior of each channel individually, rather than managing all of the app’s notifications together. Android O also adds new visuals and grouping to notifications that make it easier for users to see what’s going on when they have an incoming message or are glancing at the notification shade.
Snoozing : Users can snooze notifications to reappear at a later time. Notifications reappear with the same level of importance they first appeared with. Apps can remove or update a snoozed notification, but updating a snoozed notification does not cause it to reappear.
Auto-fill APIs : Android O adds platform support for auto-fill. Users can select an auto-fill app, similar to the way they select a keyboard app. The auto-fill app stores and secures user data, such as addresses, user names, and even passwords. For apps that want to handle autofill, new APIs are added to implement an Auto-fill service.
PIP for Handsets and New Windowing Features : Picture in Picture (PIP) display is now available on phones and tablets, so users can continue watching a video while they’re answering a chat or hailing a car. Apps can put themselves in PiP mode from the resumed or a pausing state where the system supports it – and you can specify the aspect ratio and a set of custom interactions (such as play/pause). Other new windowing features include a new app overlay window for apps to use instead of system alert window, and multi-display support for launching an activity on a remote display.
Font Resources in XML : Fonts are now a fully supported resource type in Android O. Apps can now use fonts in XML layouts as well as define font families in XML — declaring the font style and weight along with the font files.
Adaptive Icons : Adaptive icons support visual effects, and can display a variety of shapes across different device models. The system also animates interactions with the icons, and them in the launcher, shortcuts, Settings, sharing dialogs, and in the overview screen.
Wide-gamut Color for Apps : Android developers of imaging apps can now take advantage of new devices that have a wide-gamut color capable display. To display wide gamut images, apps will need to enable a flag in their manifest (per activity) and load bitmaps with an embedded wide color profile (AdobeRGB, Pro Photo RGB, DCI-P3, etc.).
Connectivity : Support for high-quality Bluetooth audio codecs such as LDAC codec. Wi-Fi Aware, which is based on the Neighbor Awareness Networking (NAN) specification. On devices with the appropriate Wi-Fi Aware hardware, apps and nearby devices can discover and communicate over Wi-Fi without an Internet access point.
Companion Device Pairing : Android O provides APIs that allow you to customize the pairing request dialog when trying to pair with companion devices over Bluetooth, BLE, and Wi-Fi.
Keyboard Navigation : More reliable, predictable model for “arrow” and “tab” navigation that aids both developers and end users.
AAudio API for Pro Audio : AAudio is a new native API that’s designed specifically for apps that require high-performance, low-latency audio. Apps using AAudio read and write data via streams. In the Developer Preview we’re releasing an early version of this new API to get your feedback.
WebView Enhancements : Multiprocess mode by default and API to let your app handle errors and crashes, for enhanced security and improved app stability. As a further security measure, you can now opt in your app’s WebView objects to verify URLs through Google Safe Browsing.
Java 8 Language APIs and Runtime Optimizations : Android now supports several new Java Language APIs, including the new java.time API. In addition, the Android Runtime is faster than ever before, with improvements of up to 2x on some application benchmarks.
Partner Platform Contributions : Hardware manufacturers and silicon partners have accelerated fixes and enhancements to the Android platform in the O release. Sony has contributed more than 30 feature enhancements, including the LDAC codec, and 250 bug fixes to Android O.
Android 7.0 Nougat OS is officially old now as Google has just released the Developer Preview Images for Android ‘O’ OS , the next version ...

How Huawei is Helping Operators in Emerging Markets for Better Connectivity, Social and Economic Growth
Huawei hosted the Global Digital Transformation Forum (GDTF) at Mobile World Congress 2017 event and there was a dedicated session for Huawe's strategic investment in Emerging Markets for new growth. EMs comprise 103 countries (mostly developing countries) and a population of 4.7 billion of which a huge part belongs to youths.
Mr. William Xu, Executive Director of the Board and Chief Strategy Marketing Officer of Huawei, talked about how Huawei is focusing on the growth opportunities in Emerging Market. He discussed about the challenges and also highlighted Huawei’s commitment to collaborate with operators to help them maximize network assets and drive connectivity in the most effective way to provide a better user experience overall, while promoting social and economic growth.
While sharing the Global Connectivity Index (GCI) report of 2016 by Huawei in 2016, he mentioned the fact that one-point increase in GCI score point leads to 2.3% increase in national productivity, 2.2% in national innovation and national competitiveness by 2.1%. The average score of the 50 countries in the GCI 2016 increased by two points (5%) compared wit 2015/
Mr. Xu also pointed it out that it is expected that 100 billion connections will be by 2025 and 500 million more broadband homes with 4GB/day per capita data usage.
Talking at the Huawei's Emerging Market conference, Mr. Xu said;
“By 2025, we will see 2 billion more people with mobile connections, and another 500 million broadband homes. Our commitment has always been to enable the world’s operators to build roads to new growth.
“Huawei continues to drive its social responsibility to help emerging markets grow by at least 1 GCI point while guaranteeing coverage in times of major world events or natural disasters.”
A total of 3.9 billion people in the world have no Internet access, and 3 billion of them are in emerging markets. There are 1.1 billion houses without the fixed broadband connectivity, out of which 800 millions are in countries of emerging markets. With respect to the developed markets, Pay-per-View videos, Internet of Things and enterprise level cloud services are still in their early phases.
So, operators around the world are having the great opportunity to invest in the emerging markets to capitalize on huge ICT industry potential, untapped demographics with greater demand, and fulfillment of national ICT strategies.
Interesting thing is that Huawei has already analyzed the current emerging markets landscape extensively to implement its strategic approach. The four targeted categories are - Users+, Households+, Assets+, and Efficiency+.
By this way, Huawei can collaborate with operators in better manner to achieve the goals easily and effectively. Huawei has already tried them in Philippines, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Egypt respectively for maximizing the network value and rapidly responding to user.
Mr. William Xu talked about how Huawei is working together with the operators to help them achieve success in emerging markets and gave the stat of various ;
“We work hand-in-hand with operators to help them identify valued customers, develop valued businesses, and build valued networks.”
“We enable operators to combine industry policy with the utilization of existing network resources, and integrate technological and business innovation. Our goal is to help operators drive new revenue streams and a positive business cycle of service development and network construction.”
Along with Mr. William Xu, there were Mr. Qin Bin ( President, Huawei Fixed Network Marketing), Dr. Margaret Hu ( President, Huawei Wireless Network Marketing) and Mr. Li Long ) Director (Market Insight Department of Huawei Carrier BG) were also present at the conference. They talked about what exactly is ROADS in Huawei's MWC 2017 tag line "Open ROADS to a Better Connected World".
“The ROADS (Real-time, On-demand, All-online, DIY, and Social) experience requires support for both an agile, automated operating system, as well as development of the network infrastructure,”Mr. Willaim Xu also talked about Huawei's "Seeds for the Future" program that helps the next generation by providing the knowledge and first-hands experience of the technology. Using this CSR program, Huawei worked with 35 countries and trained nearly 10,000 ICT students and established 45 ICT training centers.
Infrastructure is one of the biggest issue and challenge in the emerging markets and by leveraging the existing network assets, it is possible to maximize network value and spectrum efficiency, improve O&M and efficiently serve every economic level.
The demand of better service and technology is even more in few Emerging Market countries than the developed one. For example, Saudi Arabia is at the top position in YouTube watch-time stat and more than half of those YouTube stream are from smartphones.

So, bringing new technology like 5G can be beneficial for both consumer and the operators and Huawei is working on 5G technology extensively that supports up to 25 Gbps Internet speed.
Huawei released the world’s first 5G core solution for commercial use cases, known as Service-Oriented Core 2.0 (SOC 2.0). Also, Huawei and DLR (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt) collaborated and performed few 5G based tests for cooperative automated driving and collision avoidance.
GSMA forecasted that there will be 27 billion connected devices by 2020 and over 10 billion devices will be mobile connected. And huge chun...
