HMD Global has announced their latest premium upper mid-range smartphone Nokia 8.1 in an event in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the same device that was previously launched in China as Nokia X7.
Nokia 8.1 comes with the 10 nm architecture based Qualcomm SDM710 Snapdragon 710 octa-core SoC along with the, Adreno 616 GPU, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The device is powered by Android 9.0 Pie out of the box and run on the Android One.
Nokia 8.1 features a 6.18 inch full HD+ screen with 1080 x 2280 pixels, 81.2% screen-to-body ratio, 19:9 aspect ratio with 408 PPI density. The screen is supports HDR10 and is also capable of converting the SDR videos into HDR.
On the imaging side, Nokia 8.1 comes with a dual-rear camera setup featuring a 12 MP Zeiss optics lens with f/1.8 aperture, 1/2.55" sensor size, 1.4µm pixel size, dual pixel PDAF, Optical Image Stabilization, AI scene and object detection along with a 13 MP depth-sensor for the bokeh effect. The rear camera is capable of recording 2160p@30fps videos.
On the front side, there is a single 20 MP camera provided with f/2.0 aperture and 0.9µm pixel size. Nokia 8.1 sports a metal unibody design with glass back panel. The device is powered by 3500 mAh battery with 18W fast charging.
