The OPPO Enco Air5 is OPPO's latest in-ear earbuds. And today we are going to have a detailed review of it, covering its design, audio performance, noise cancellation, battery life, and all of its features, pros and cons.
This review is divided into various sections to cover each aspect of the device separately and talk about the pros and cons of each section.
OPPO Enco Air 5 Review
Design and Build Quality
Talking about the design and build quality, the very first thing you will notice is how small the OPPO Enco Air5 earbuds are, as it comes with an Ultra-compact Cavity Design. Each earbud weighs just 4.3 grams. They come with nice matte-finished body and nice smooth curved edges along with a touch-sensitive area to perform various commands using different gestures. Because of this lightweight design, you will be able to view and use Oppo Enco Air5 throughout the day without facing any issues, discomfort, etc.
OPPO Enco Air5 comes with IP55 water and dust resistance. So you do not need to worry about damaging your OPPO Enco Air5 if you're using it while walking out or walking in the rain. It comes in two colour options, the Glossy White and the Midnight Black. And just like the earbuds, the case also comes with a matte finish. The exterior of the case is matte-finished. And inside, we got a combination of matte and glossy finishes. The magnets inside the case are quite strong, and the overall design of the case is quite beautiful and premium.
Noise Cancellation Performance
Talking about the active noise cancellation, each earbud of OPPO Enco Air5 comes with three different microphones to reduce the ambient sound to a great extent. It provides up to 52 decibel noise reduction and up to 5,000 Hz noise cancellation frequency rate. Because of these, the noise cancellation performance of Oppo Enco Air5 is quite impressive. I've used it in many different ambient sound scenarios like the hospital, crowded street, airport, etc. And the performance of Enco Air5 was quite impressive.
It comes with OPPO's Real-Time Active Noise Cancellation that you can use with the Auto mode under the noise control mode in the Hey Melody smartphone app. So you can go with the High, Moderate or Low level of noise cancellation, or you can go with Auto, and the OPPO Enco Air5 will intelligently detect the ambient sound and, based on that, it will adjust the noise cancellation level. The three different microphones we got on each earbud also contribute in the crystal-clear voice calls.
Audio Quality
OPPO Enco Air5 comes with a 12 mm Dynamic Bass Driver that provides a great amount of bass in audio output while still providing balanced mids and highs. We've got a titanium-coated PET diaphragm that helps provide great audio output across a wide frequency range. The OPPO Enco Air5 also comes with a Clear Acoustic Cavity Design that helps provide an immersive audio experience, especially if you're using the OPPO Alive Audio for 360 spatial audio experience.
Overall, the audio output is brilliant. It does not matter if you're using the Oppo Enco Air5 for listening to music, playing games, watching movies or listening podcast; you will have a nice audio experience overall for sure.
It comes with the Oppo Sound Master equaliser, where we've got three different presets. My personal favourite is the Ultimate Sound. But if you're not happy with them, you can create a 10-band Pro Equalizer based on your preference.
Battery Life
With active noise cancellation turned off, you will get up to 13 hours of battery life, and you can use the charging case to charge the earbuds three more times. So, you can get up to 50 hours of battery life on your OPPO Enco 5.
And if you're using the active noise cancellation, then you can get around 6 hours of battery life on the earbuds. And with the help of the case, you can get up to 25 hours of battery life. And once the battery goes down, you can charge the earbuds with the help of the case in just 15 minutes.
Smartphone App Features
The OPPO Enco Air 5 comes with a dedicated Gaming Mode in which you can turn on the ultra-low latency to have a nice, fast gaming experience, and then you can turn on the sound effects for the FPS games that enhance the in-game audio cues like footsteps and gunfire to provide a nice gaming experience.
The Oppo Enco Air5 comes with Bluetooth 6.1 and a 10 m range for connectivity, and I didn't feel any issue while using it inside my house and at the workplace. In terms of connectivity, the OPPO Enco Air5 comes with a Dual Device Connection feature that allows you to connect two devices at the very same time, and it supports Android, iOS as well as the Windows platform.
Each left and right earbud can be configured to perform five different gestures. So theoretically, you can perform up to 10 different commands and gestures on Oppo Enco Air 5. And it also comes with a new AI Translate feature for Oppo and OnePlus smartphones. And you can even use your Oppo Enco Air5 as a remote shutter for your smartphone to take pictures remotely. One very interesting feature in the smartphone app is the Themes. It allows you to have different pop-up windows with different animations for a nice user experience.
It comes with Find My Earbuds. If you're not able to find where your earbuds are, then you can tap on this icon here to play some high-pitched sound on your Oppo Enco Air 5 to locate and find them. It also comes with an auto-pause/play feature that works perfectly every single time.
