I was using the Nokia X7 since last 2 weeks and now it is the time to write the review about it. Nokia X7 is one of the first phones having the Symbian Anna OS.In this post I am gonna share all of my experience with Nokia X7, good or bad. And I am gonna cover this review in various sections covering various features of the Nokia X7.

Nokia X7 Unboxing

Nokia X7 Hands-On Review

In terms of design, it is the best looking phone from Nokia. The curvy edges, speakers at the end of the phone in front and curved back gives it a unique appearance and clearly makes it different from the other phones. The grip is really nice and helps in using the phone properly in any orientation which makes it perfect for the gaming experience.

You can not open the back panel of the X7. The slots to insert the SIM card and the SD card are outside which is obvious. They are a bit hard to open for the first time but once you know the trick, it is really easy.

Display and Screen

Nokia X7 is having the AMOLED capacitive touchscreen supporting 16M colors. The screen resolution is 360 x 640 pixels and the screen size is 4.0 inches. The display is really nice and bright. You can use it outdoor perfectly in sunlight. I was able to use the phone without any issue in extreme bright sunlight of New Delhi.

Nokia X7 screen also supports the HD playback and I really enjoyed few nice HD movies and games on it. The 184 ppi pixel density gives an amazing display to Nokia X7.

Processor and OS

As stated earlier, Nokia X7 is having the Symbian Anna OS. It is not much different than S60V5 in UI. So, I did not feel much difference while using it.

It is having 256 MB RAM and 680 MHz ARM 11 processor. I was really not happy with the RAM and a bit with the processor too. Since I am a heavy user and use multiple apps at the very same time, sometimes mobile was hanging because of the low RAM and processor which was really annoying for me.

Now when every other phone is coming out with the 512 MB RAM and 1GHz processor, it would be great to have them in Nokia X7 too.

Nokia X7 got an 8MP camera at 3264x2448 pixels and 720p HD video recording at 25fps. The video quality is awesome in Nokia X7. I took some nice HD videos using it. I've also attended a rock concert and made videos of the performance using Nokia X7. The camera worked really fine even in low light.

I am sharing that video below. Watch it in HD to see the original quality of the video.

It is also having dual LED flash which works well. Only drawback is that the camera is no auto-focus and macro mode. So while taking the images of closer objects, you do not get the much clarity. Also, video recording at 30fps would be much better.

This is the best use of this phone. The screen quality gives you an amazing viewing experience of the HD videos. Also you can enjoy playing some awesome HD games on Nokia X7 . If you are into gaming then, you will simply love this phone as I did. Even my 3 year old nephew loves to play the Spider-Man Total Mayhem HD and Asphalt 5 HD on the Nokia X7 :)

There is a video given below of the HD gaming on Nokia X7. Took this from my other 2MP phone, sorry for the poor quality. As you can guess, the game here is Spider-Man Total Mayhem HD :)

The music player in the Symbian Anna OS is new and having nice UI. The dynamic view really makes it beautiful and easy to navigate and use. The sound quality of the dual stereo speakers are also nice. And since they are given in the front of the phone, unlike the usual in the back ones, they enhances the entertainment quality you get on Nokia X7.

Apps and Customization

Since Nokia X7 is based on the Symbian Anna OS, lots of amazing apps and games are available to use. There are 3 home screens and you can customize them according to your choices. You can make quick dials to put on the home screen. You can also include the social networking and email widgets for getting the updates directly on your home screen.

I was using one screen for all my entertainment activity like games, movies, music etc. and one for social networking, messaging and emails. You can download lots of apps and widgets from the Nokia Store and customize the Nokia X7 the way you want.

The one thing which I really did not like was the battery. Nokia X7 is having a 1200 mAh battery which is just not sufficient for a heavy user like me. I used to recharge the phone at least once everyday and sometimes twice.

A battery of only that much power with a phone having large AMOLED screen, HD video playback and HD games, just do not make sense to me. Even my old Nokia 5235 is having a better battery than the Nokia X7.

Nokia X7 is a great entertainment phone and scores over many other smartphones available in market in terms of features. There are few things like battery life which is poor. But if you are not a heavy user then, Nokia X7 is a must have phone for you.
