Panasonic announced the development of two high-end PTZ camera series – the AW-UE200 and AW-UER200 series both featuring the world’s first global shutter MOS sensor in PTZ cameras.

The AW-UE200 series, comprising the AW-UE200W/K (Standard model) and AW-UE210W/K equipped with SMPTE ST 2110 and Dante®, is scheduled for release in February 2027. While the AW-UER200 series, comprising the AW-UER200W/K (Roll model) and AW-UER210W/K, also equipped with SMPTE ST 2110 and Dante®, is scheduled for release in the second quarter of CY 2027.

The new camera series have been developed to meet the evolving demands of professional video production, including live events with dynamic lighting and staging, sports broadcasting requiring accurate capture of fast-moving action, and studio and virtual production environments using LED walls. By combining a global shutter system with advanced imaging, lens and camera movement technologies, Panasonic aims to expand the creative possibilities of PTZ cameras while supporting reliable, high-quality production workflows.

AW-UE200 and AW-UER200

Panasonic’s high-end PTZ cameras, led by the AW-UE160W/K, have long delivered high-quality imagery designed to blend seamlessly with footage from studio cameras, opening up new possibilities for PTZ camera applications. Beyond established applications such as precise virtual reproduction in studios using LED walls, demand is expanding into production environments requiring more sophisticated visual expression. These include live events with constantly changing lighting and staging conditions, as well as sports broadcasts where split-second action must be captured accurately. To meet the demands of modern creators and capture fleeting moments with greater reliability, Panasonic has developed the AW-UE200 and AW-UER200 series.

Featuring a global shutter system and core technologies designed to expand creative expression, the new series open further possibilities for professional PTZ camera production.

AW-UE200 and AW-UER200 series are the first PTZ cameras to adopt a global shutter MOS sensor. The resulting low-distortion images support video production across a wide range of environments, including LED-wall reshoots in studio settings, live events with dynamic lighting effects and sports broadcasts featuring fast-moving subjects. In studio environments, the sensor is highly compatible with LED walls, delivering natural, distortion-free footage. At live events, it minimises flicker caused by stage lighting and LED effects, helping preserve the intended artistic vision. In sports broadcasting, the sensor captures fast-moving subjects without distortion to deliver immersive and realistic scenes.

In addition, 5K oversampling delivers high-resolution 4K footage rich in detail, faithfully rendering subjects’ texture, contours and fine details to expand the range of creative expression in video production. Both series will also support high frame rate (HFR) HD high-speed shooting at 120 fps and 180 fps, following a future update,to deliver high-resolution footage with clear detail for slow-motion replays and referee reviews.

Both series feature a 22x optical zoom*4 to capture subjects clearly, even in large venues. The lens supports variable zoom speeds, ranging from approximately 0.5 seconds for telephoto-to-wide-angle operation to as slow as 180 seconds, enabling smooth zoom effects that can be tailored to the scene or creator’s intent. An 80° horizontal angle of view also enables broad scenes to be captured, even in confined spaces.

The AW-UE200 series features a pan and tilt mechanism that operates with high precision at low to ultra-high speeds, enabling real-time responses to operator commands for smooth camera movements. With a maximum speed of 400 deg/s and the ability to accelerate from a standstill to top speed in approximately 0.2 seconds, combined with high responsiveness, the camera can instantly follow subjects even in fast-paced scenes, helping prevent missed shots and deliver dynamic, immersive footage.

The AW-UER200 series features a roll mechanism with a range of –200° to +200°. In addition to enabling striking compositions, such as roll effects, simultaneous 16:9 and 9:16 output provides flexible support for vertical video suited to social media and streaming. This enables camera work based on the intended shot rather than limitations around camera placement. The mechanism also improves installation flexibility. One-touch horizontal levelling from the remote controller supports quick setup on robotic mounts such as cranes and in challenging environments such as angled ceilings.

The AW-UE210W/K and AW-UER210W/K support SMPTE ST 2110 and Dante®. In addition to uncompressed 4K video output, SMPTE ST 2110 supports low-latency transmission using JPEG XS and enables return video workflows via IP input. The cameras also support Dante® audio, providing flexible IP-based operation to suit a wide range of applications and system configurations. Furthermore, both SMPTE ST 2110 and Dante® support redundant connections, enabling seamless integration into existing redundant infrastructures.
