Samsung sent the invitation for the launching event of Gear S3 smartwatches few days back and now the latest series of Gear S3 smartwatches are officially unveiled by Samsung at IFA 2016 event.
Samsung announced two smartwatches in Gear S3 series – Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier. Both of them are having a 1.3-inch Circular Super AMOLED Always-On display with 360×360 pixels resolutions. The screen is protected by the latest Corning Gorilla Glass SR+ protection. Both Gear S3 smartwatches sport a rotating bezel.
On the OS side, both devices run on Tizen- Based Wearable Platform 2.3.2. Samsung Gear S3 Classic comes with the minimalist and elegant look while Gear S3 Frontier sports a rugged outdoor look. Gear S3 Frontier also features the LTE connectivity.
Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier have the IP68 certification for being the water resistance. They also come with the NFC and Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) support for mobile payments using the Samsung Pay app. There is also a GPS and a built-in speaker provided for voice messaging and music listening.
If there is an emergency, user can send the alert to family, friends and emergency professionals using the SOS and location tracking capabilities of the Gear S3 smartwatch.
The rotating bezel of the Gear S3 smartwatches come with new features that let users accept or reject a phone call or snooze an alarm using it. There is also a Reminder app given using which users can create short reminders and to-do .
