Acer Predator Orion 5000 is Acer's most powerful gaming PC currently that comes with a very powerful configuration. I was trying my hands on it for the last few weeks and now it is time to share my detailed review of the device with you all on Geeky Stuffs
This review is divided into different sections, covering the pros and cons of each of them to give you a better idea.
Acer Predator Orion 5000 Gaming PC Review
Acer Predator Orion 5000 comes with the signature design elements of the Predator Orion series with sharp edges, mesh cover, and futuristic-looking front. On the front side, you will find the static blue colored power button, two RGB light strips and metal strips resembling the Predator logo, two RGB illuminated fans behind the translucent cover, and a mesh covering hidden peripheral slots.
Once you press the mesh cover, it opens, and inside you will find the optical drive and slot for the external HDD to easily expand the storage of the device whenever needed. The top provides some slots and ports for easy connectivity and the layered mesh top can be used to keep your gadgets while charging using the top ports.
On the left, the cabinet is transparent with a mesh behind to enjoy the view of the interior and all of the components. On the right, there is huge Predator branding and logo. The sides can be easily removed to access the interior to make any changes and upgrades.
Also, the side panels are EMI compliant providing no electromagnetic interference. The back is all business and comes with a good amount of ports for all kinds of connectivity.
In terms of design and build quality, the Acer Predator Orion 5000 sports a typical no non-sense signature Predator design.
Hardware and Performance
Acer Predator Orion 5000 comes with the overclockable 10th Gen Intel Core i9 processor, NVIDIA RTX GeForce 3080 GPU, 64 GB RAM, 2TB HDD and 1TB SSD storage, AIO CPU liquid cooling, 2.5G Killer Ethernet, and Wi-Fi 6. This is one of the best configurations that you can get in the market specially considering the fact that the GPUs are hard to get.
As expected, the performance of the Acer Predator Orion 5000 was brilliant in benchmarking tests and while playing high-end gaming titles equally. In 3D Mark Time Spy, the points achieved were better than 99% of the tested devices. PCMark, it was able to beat 97% of all tested computers. In VR Mark, it scored thrice of the targeted FPS needed for virtual reality purposes.
When it comes to gaming, the performance of Acer Predator Orion 5000 was super impressive as well. While playing Shadow Of The Tomb Raider on 4K resolution and Highest preset, it achieved an average of 85 FPS and on FHD resolution, it achieved 147 FPS.
In the Ghostrunner, it achieved an average of 90 FPS on 4K gameplay. While playing the Outriders, Acer Predator Orion 5000 successfully achieved the average frame rate of 80 FPS on 4K resolution.
In PlanetSide 2, the average achieved frames was 155 FPS and when it comes to Counter Strike, the average frame rate was a whopping 355 FPS on all 4K resolution and the highest graphics quality presets.
And the liquid cooling works brilliantly as well. During the long gaming sessions, there was no heating issue and the device was always at moderate temperature avoiding any throttling during the gameplay. So does not matter what kinds of games you play, you are going to be happy with the performance of the Acer Predator Orion 5000 for sure.
Acer Predator Orion 5000 comes bundled with the generic models of the Predator Cestus gaming mouse and Predator Aethon gaming keyboard. So all you need is a good gaming monitor and your gaming setup will be ready with the Acer Predator Orion 5000.
Predator Cestus gaming mouse comes with a sufficient amount of physical buttons to play most of the available gaming titles. You can also change the DPI sensitivity based on your preferences using the dedicated DPI button. The palm and thumb rest provided is also very nice and helps in longer gaming sessions.
Predator Aethon gaming keyboard provided is good for the gaming and also for the daily usage. The travel is nice and Acer has provided many dedicated keys on the top right corner of the keyboard to perform the various tasks while playing games.
Both keyboard and mouse come with the RGB lightings and can be customized to get the effect of your choice with the help of the Predator Arc application. You can even change the button assignments on the Predator Cestus gaming mouse to suit your needs and style of gameplay.
Just like the other Predator series devices, Acer Predator Orion 5000 comes with the Predator Sense utility app using which you can use to do various customization and improve the gaming experience on the device.
Using the Predator Sense you can overlock the CPU to get the maximum performance out of it, monitor the performance and status of the CPU and GPU, you can control the fan speed and profile as well.
In the Lighting section, it allows you to customize the lighting on the Acer Predator Orion 5000 by selecting the pre-defined lighting effects individually for the fans and the RGB strip on the front. Unfortunately, there is no option to change the lighting of the cabinet and it always stays on the Predator’s signature blue color.
But my favorite lighting-related feature is the Lighting Maker using which you can create your own lighting effects combining them with the music of your choice. It is a good time-killing activity and also gives a unique appearance and personality to your device.
Acer Predator Orion 5000 is one of the most powerful gaming PC currently available in the market. When it comes to performance, it surely is a king and will provide an amazing gaming experience for all kinds of gaming titles. The design and built quality is nice. It comes with Acer Predator gaming mouse and keyboard bundled and the software-based features like Predator Arc and Predator Sense bring lots of customizations and performance improvements.
So if you are planning to buy a gaming PC, this is one of the best options for you specially considering the shortage of the GPUs and overpricing for the available units in the market.
