But here is a simple trick which you can use to convert your web browser in to a note taking text editor Notepad app. The benefit of this trick is that you do not need to install any third party software on your computer or browser extensions on your web browser.

1. Open a new tab in your web browser.

2. Copy and paste the code given below in the address bar of your web browser and hit the Enter key.

data:text/html, <html contenteditable>


This code creates an empty HTML page on your web browser which is editable and similar to a text box. So, it let you type the text in your web browser.

3. Now, you can start typing in the empty white space right below the address bar as shown in the image above.

If you copy and paste the above code in a browser tab which is having a webpage opened then, the page will disappear and the blank editable page will appear on which you can type the text.

One of the drawback of this trick is that you can type on plain text without any HTML formatting i.e you can make typed text as bold, italic or underlined. Also, you cannot save the texts you typed in your web browser Notepad.

You can create a web browser bookmark of a blank page using this code and can directly access it in just one click when you are using web browser and want to make some notes without leaving your web browser.

This trick to convert web browser in to a Notepad app works perfectly on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browser but does not work on Opera and Internet Explorer.
