Infinix Note 3 Pro X601: Hands-on Review, Specs and Features

Retail Box and Unboxing

Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 comes in a nice looking and a bit stretched blue colored retail box. You will find most of the highlighted specs of the device printed on it.

Inside the retail box, you will find the handset, USB cable, charger, SIM card trey ejector pin, tampered glass screen protector, earphones and some user manuals.

You can watch our Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 unboxing video below.

Design

Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is a big device with 6 inch screen size. The thickness is not too much with 8.4mm even though it comes with a massive 4,500 mAh battery because of the large size of the device. It is pretty lightweight considering a big battery and metal body.

The power button is easy to reach but the volume rockers are a bit above the thumb reach as all keys are on the same side of the phone. It would be better if the volume keys were on the other side separately at the well placed spot for each access.

The screen-to-body ratio is not good as there are lots of empty and useless space below screen since there are no off-screen capacitive keys provided in that area. The area above the screen is nice but could be reduced a bit as well

The back of the Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is nice and minimal. There is Infinix logo in the middle of the back panel and the fingerprint sensor, LED flash and primary camera are just above it in the same order as mentioned.

The back panel is non-removable and so the battery can’t come out. 3.5mm audio jack is at top, a large speaker grill and USB port at the bottom of the device.

The overall design of the Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is good, beautiful, lightweight and it feels nice in hand too. But the device could have a better screen-to-body ratio to make it look better.

Screen and Display

Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 comes with a 6-inch IPS screen with 1080p full HD resolution, so the PPI you will get is 373 on it. So the resolution is good enough to provide a nice display quality and sharp enough. As already said, the screen-to-body ratio is a bit low and it adds a bit of bulk to the device.

There is no protection provided on the screen of Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 to protect it from scratches and minor damages. And that is why, Infinix is providing a tampered glass screen protector in the retail box itself.

The screen brightness is really good and sunlight visibility is nice as well. The viewing angles could be a bit better. The touchscreen sensitivity is good enough as well.

Hardware and OS

Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 comes with MediaTek™ 6753 64-bit 1.3GHz octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and Mali T720 GPU. Though the processor is good enough for daily usage, the GPU is very poor. Mali T720 is well known for having average performance and using it in a smartphone with 1080p resolution is really a bad idea.

Internal storage of the device is 16GB only , out of which user available memory is a bit more than 10GB. There is a dedicated memory card slot provided that supports up to 128GB of microSD card. Out of 3GB RAM, user available RAM is around 1.8GB only but still you will not feel any lag in daily usage on the device.

Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is a dual SIM device and supports micro SIM cards. The SIM card trey look a bit weak and they are hard to use with a SIM adaptor as the slot is very narrow. There is 4G LTE connectivity provided and it works quite good too. The network signal detection is good and the voice quality is nice as well.

In our benchmarking test, Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 performed as expected because of the combination of average CPU and poor GPU. You can watch our benchmarking test videos of Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 below.

Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 runs on the XOS based on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The UI is smooth and responsive. There are some additional features and many are missing as well.

If you are an Android lover then you will find it very frustrating that you can’t put app icon on the Home screen, you can’t move apps to SD card or can’t use memory card as the internal storage that is a very popular feature of Android OS.

Camera and Imaging

Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 comes with a 13MP primary camera and 5MP front camera. There is no dedicated camera key but user can launch the camera without unlocking the device from the lock screen itself.

The camera quality is good and images coming out of the primary camera are good enough. The color saturation is good but a bit under-saturated. The sharpness is good and details are nice too.

Primary camera is capable of recording 1080p full HD videos with good amount of details. There is time lapse option given in the video settings. Burst mode is provided in the image settings too to capture up to 20 images in one shot.

Talking about the features, there are many photography modes like HDR, PIP etc. The front camera performance is nice too and it comes with a soft flash that let use capture good quality images in the low light situation.

Entertainment and Gaming

Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 comes with a huge 6-inch screen with good display quality that is really good to watch videos on it.  There is FM radio provided in this device and the audio is really loud.

The speaker looks big because of the grill size and the audio is loud and clear, though it lacks a bit quality.

The gaming performance of Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is not so great. Even though the CPU and amount of RAM is good enough for most of the games, the GPU is what affects the performance negatively. Though we didn't feel frame drops and lags while playing high-end games, the gameplay was not so smooth and graphics quality was average too. 3D graphics rendering was okay but sometimes it performed poorly in games like Amazing Spider-Man by blurring the environment and breaking the image while zooming in.

But if you are not a gamer then, Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is capable of playing most of the popular games smoothly without any issue.

Battery Life

The most highlighted feature of Infinix Note series of smartphones is the battery life and the Note 3 Pro is not an exception. It comes with 4500 mAh battery along with the XCharge 3.0, a fast charging feature of Infinix. The device is claimed to have more than two days of battery life but with moderate usage, it survived for two days only and that is still nice.

With heavy usage, it lasted for a day only and had to charge the device again before going to the bed. But most of the time, it will easily go with one and half day with slight heavy usage.

There are also many power saving modes and options provided that helps in increasing the battery life by reducing the hardware performance and restricting many feature of the device.

Conclusion

Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is a nice mid-range Android smartphone. The battery life is great, design is good and full metal body feels great in hand. Display is good but comes with no protection on it. Performance is average and GPU is poor. Camera performance is good as well.

Considering the price of the device, Infinix Note 3 Pro X601 is a nice device if you can ignore the poor GPU performance of it.
